Canadian Information Productivity Awards expanding in its 10th year
TORONTO, February 18, 2002 - Canadian Information Productivity Awards, one of Canada's largest business awards programs, is inviting entries for its 10th annual competition. Winners will be recognized across Canada and around the world for leadership in the new economy.
C.I.P.A. honours organizations that have used information technology as a strategic management tool to transform their business capabilities, and aims to motivate senior managers to emulate their examples.
Robert Livingstone, C.I.P.A. president and chief executive officer, said: "C.I.P.A. awards are coveted by businesses and not-for-profit organizations alike. The program is unique in that it not only identifies organizations that have achieved leadership in productivity and competitiveness, but shows how they did it."
Entry deadline for the 2002 competition is April 3. Entry forms and rules can be obtained on the C.I.P.A. Web site, www.C.I.P.A..com.
Winning organizations will receive Awards of Excellence, in eight entry categories. At the C.I.P.A. Gala Banquet on Nov. 27 in Toronto, Canada's largest information management event, outstanding winners will receive the Best of Category Awards and the Best of Show Solution Award. The banquet will also feature the induction into the C.I.P.A. Hall of Fame of an individual who has contributed to the quality of life in Canada through information technology.
Larry Simon, chair of the C.I.P.A. Board of Directors, said that, since its founding in 1992, C.I.P.A. has created a historic archive of case studies in information management.
"C.I.P.A. is developing an expanded national educational program to provide an even more valuable information resource to Canadian businesses, governments and institutions," said Simon, who is also a vice president of Capgemini Canada Inc.
Case studies describing C.I.P.A. award-winning solutions are disseminated via www.C.I.P.A..com and profiled in Information Strategy magazine, which is sent to 40,000 senior executives.
C.I.P.A. also promotes the benefits of information management through its affiliation with three regional awards associations, which contribute entries to the C.I.P.A. competition: the Fédération de l'informatique du Québec (FIQ), which manages the OCTAS awards for Quebec-based organizations; the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce, which administers the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce Technology Innovation Awards, and the Vancouver Section of the Canadian Information Processing Society (CIPS), which manages the Innovators in Technologies Awards.
C.I.P.A. was created in 1992 under the auspices of founding managing partners Canadian Business magazine, now published by Rogers Media, and Capgemini Canada Inc..
