TORONTO, May 13, 2002 - The C.I.P.A. competition for 2002 has drawn entries of excellent quality from across the country. Judging is just getting under way, but it is already evident that the C.I.P.A. Gala Banquet this fall will be a showcase for significant advances in information management.

C.I.P.A. President and CEO Robert Livingstone says: "We have been impressed, and frankly surprised, by what the 2002 entries reveal about the application of information technology to transform Canadian organizations. There has been no slowdown, far from it. Businesses, governments and institutions alike are implementing revolutionary strategies at a remarkable pace."

The 2002 competition, which closed April 3, has drawn entries from organizations of all kinds and from every region of the country. The entries reveal that information technology is being applied to transform the capabilities not only of businesses, but of governments, health-care organizations, and research, educational and social institutions.

C.I.P.A. is the only organization in Canada that compiles and disseminates information about advances in information management, for the benefit of senior executives and the Canadian economy as a whole. The achievements of organizations that win Awards of Excellence will be displayed and celebrated at the 10th annual C.I.P.A. Gala Banquet on November 27 at the Westin Harbour Castle Hotel in Toronto.
